Challenge for Charities Lander Wyoming

Lander, WY

2024 RACE INFORMATION

The Lander Half Marathon is a must-do road running event that ascends the continuous but gradual climb up Baldwin Creek and then descends Squaw Creek. Runners experience breathtaking views of green fields, winding creeks, dramatic red bluffs and inspiring glimpses of the Lander foothills. The 5km course leads runners through town to McMannis Park and then joins up with the Half Marathon course to finish. The 1 Mile runs out and back on Main Street with some of the best cheering you can imagine. Kick off your 4th of July with an event you can be proud of!

The parade begins at 10 AM.  Stick around for the amazing fireworks display in the evening - it will be an unforgettable experience.  If you are coming from out of town, we encourage you to book your lodging early. The 4th of July is a big event in Lander and draws in a very large crowd.

In order to achieve the Lander Community Foundation’s mission of promoting philanthropy and creating a stronger Lander community, the foundation sponsors the annual Challenge for Charities, a community-wide fundraiser, that culminates in the Lander Half Marathon, 5K and 1 Mile Mad Dash.

Registration Notes
Those registering after June 1 will not be guaranteed a t-shirt.

NEW this year, if you would like to take advantage of a discounted price and NOT receive a t-shirt, please select the "no shirt" registration option. If you want to pay the regular price and still not receive a shirt, there is an option for that under the regular registration option.

If you would like to participate in the 5km with friends and family, please sign up for the same wave. We will have three waves in 2024, Competitive Runner, Recreational Runner and Walker.

We will again utilize start corrals to track who is actually starting in which wave. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us ensure accurate start times and therefore overall timing of the event. We are also thankful to the Lander District Recreation Board Grant who has made it possible to purchase an additional timing system that will also ensure more accurate tracking of start times.

If you need to change or update your registration, please email c4crace@landercommunityfoundation.org and we will help make any needed adjustments.

Racer Safety & Details
Safety is our first priority during the 4th of July C4C races. Due to the number of racers and the excitement of the 4th of July activities, we discourage bringing your dog to the footraces. If you do have to bring your dog, it must be on a leash and under your control at all times.

LCF and the City of Lander cannot be held liable for any problems that dogs may cause.

Due to the safety of participants, no roller skates, inline skates, roller-skis, scooters, and skateboards allowed on the course.  Foot traffic, strollers, and wheel chairs are welcome.

We do not have a bag drop at this race.

All courses close at 9:30 AM. The parade starts at 10AM.

Post-race lost and found will be at Wild Iris Mountain Sports. Items will be held for one week and then donated.

The 1 Mile Mad Dash is a kid-focussed race. It is not an adult sprint race. If the child needs encouragement or assistance, we ask that ONLY ONE adult accompany them so that all of the participants can feel unobstructed and supported. Accompanying adults do not need to register for the race.

Awards and Results
There are awards/gifts for the top three overall men and women in the half marathon and top three overall men and women in the 5K. Due to the complexity and timing of wave starts for the 5km, we will not hold a formal awards ceremony. We will coordinate either mailing or hand delivery awards within the week after the events. Thank you for your understanding.

We will not formally recognize age group winners. Participants can easily sort results to view these categorized results once results are posted.

All participants will receive a finsiher medal upon crossing the finish line.

Results will be posted at www.landercommunityfoundation.org as soon as they are made available and can also be found on Its Your Race where you registered.  Please note this will be done as soon as possible, but it is important to remember that your timing crew is working diligently to ensure the most accurate results. Please be kind and patient with our timing crew.
