May 22, 2020
It is with a heavy heart that the Lander Community Foundation and the Challenge for Charities race directors have decided to cancel the annual Challenge for Charities Half Marathon, 5K, and the 1 Mile mad dash in 2020. We plan to get back to the 4th of July races as usual in 2021.
Our priorities are the safety and well-being of our participating runners, walkers, and our community. Although we don’t know what the rest of 2020 may hold regarding guidelines surrounding COVID-19, we have a responsibility to make decisions considering what is best for our community.
LCF will still facilitate the community-wide fundraising aspect of Challenge for Charities. Participating nonprofits can fundraise from July 4-September 15.
LCF is exploring options for how we will celebrate and promote these participating groups. Additionally, we want to enthusiastically thank and congratulate Lander and our Challenge for Charities donors. We welcome your creative input, and we will send updates as plans come together.
If you were planning to participate in the race, please consider donating your race registration to the Challenge for Charities matching pool, which is distributed to the participating nonprofits.
Thank you for your continued support and contact us if you have questions or concerns.
Please do not use the traditional C4C courses on the 4th of July since they will not have traffic control, aid stations, or medical support.
